House Rules
Rules for the use of the tennis courts of Szigliget Tennis Club
Effective: 15 May 2026
These House Rules form an inseparable annex to the General Terms and Conditions (GTC). By using the services of the Tennis Club — including entry onto the club premises — the User and every person accompanying them (companions, spectators) acknowledge these House Rules as binding upon themselves.
Ignorance of the House Rules does not exempt anyone from compliance with the rules or from the consequences of violating them.
1. General Provisions
1.1. The tennis court operated by Szigliget Tennis Club Kft. (hereinafter: Service Provider) is intended for the practice of tennis, training sessions, matches, and tournaments.
1.2. Everyone on the club premises must behave in a manner that does not disturb other persons present and does not cause inconvenience to them.
1.3. All persons on the club premises are obliged to follow the instructions of the Service Provider's staff. In the event of force majeure (e.g. fire, storm, accident), the instructions of the Service Provider's staff are binding on everyone.
2. Opening Hours
2.1. The courts may be used in accordance with the opening hours published on the Website. Opening hours may vary seasonally (winter/summer season, public holidays).
2.2. The Service Provider reserves the right to modify opening hours or to temporarily suspend them for maintenance, event, or weather-related reasons.
3. Court Use
3.1. Playing Time
3.1.1. Play begins at the top of each hour and continues until the 55th minute. The final 5 minutes are reserved for tidying up the court (watering and rolling in a spiral pattern).
3.1.2. When the time slot expires, the court must be made available for the next person with a booking.
3.1.3. Entry onto the court is permitted at the earliest 5 minutes before the booked time, provided the previous booking has already concluded.
3.2. Attire and Equipment
3.2.1. The court may only be used in tennis shoes (or sports shoes suitable for the court surface) and sportswear.
3.2.2. It is prohibited to enter the court without a shirt, in swimwear, sandals, or street shoes.
3.2.3. Equipment (racket, balls) is used at the user's own risk. The Service Provider may provide rental equipment for a fee.
3.3. Court Maintenance
3.3.1. Keeping the court in good condition is a common interest. Every User is required to water the court and roll it in a spiral pattern at the end of play.
3.3.2. Damaging the court, intentionally harming the lines, or unsportsmanlike behaviour (e.g. throwing or breaking a racket) may result in a ban from the premises.
3.3.3. The suitability of the court for play is determined by the Service Provider's staff member (court manager). If the court is unsuitable due to weather or other reasons, section 6.3 of the GTC applies (credit claim on the Website).
3.4. Number of Players
3.4.1. One court booking is valid for the number of players specified during the booking (1–4 persons). Entering the court with a different number of persons is prohibited.
4. Companions, Spectators, and Children
4.1. Apart from the booking User and registered players, companions and spectators may stay in the common areas of the clubhouse.
4.2. Spectators must watch the game without disturbance — shouting, phone conversations near the court, and moving behind the court during play are prohibited.
4.3. Children under 18 years of age may only be on the club premises under adult supervision. The accompanying adult/parent is responsible for any damage caused by the child and for the child's physical safety.
4.4. Pets may be brought onto the club premises on a leash only and must not disturb play. Any mess caused by the animal must be cleaned up by the owner.
5. Rules of Conduct
5.1. Throughout the club premises, the following are prohibited:
- loud shouting, swearing, offensive language
- behaviour that is offensive to others, causes alarm, or contains political statements
- bringing in any object capable of causing injury (knives, weapons, etc.)
- firecrackers, pyrotechnic devices, lighting fires
- smoking on the court area (permitted only in designated smoking areas)
- consuming alcohol during play or in excessive amounts before play
- use or possession of narcotics or illegal substances
5.2. Litter generated on the club premises must be placed in the designated bins. Separate collection of more valuable waste (glass, metal) may be requested.
5.3. Any photo or video recording made in the clubhouse or court area — except for personal, small-group recordings — requires the prior permission of the Service Provider.
6. Prohibitions
It is prohibited to bring onto or use on the club premises:
- weapons, objects resembling weapons, knives, or striking tools
- any explosive or flammable material, or pyrotechnic devices
- objects not necessary for sports activities that pose a risk of accident
- objects that could damage the court surface (e.g. black-soled shoes)
Rules regarding motor vehicles:
- Parking is permitted only in designated spaces
- Parking in front of court entrances, on grass, or on the pavement is prohibited
- Charging electric vehicles at the sports facility is prohibited
- Waiting is allowed inside the clubhouse — noise from running engines and exhaust fumes in the car park disturb athletes
7. Liability
7.1. Everyone uses the club's services at their own risk. The Service Provider — except in cases of its own culpable conduct — does not accept liability for injuries or accidents occurring during sports activities.
7.2. The Service Provider does not accept liability for valuables left in the club (in changing rooms or the clubhouse). Valuables may be deposited at the reception.
7.3. Found items must be handed in at the reception. The Service Provider will show found items upon request and, after credible identification of the owner, will return them.
7.4. In the event of damage — whether caused intentionally or negligently — the person responsible is obliged to compensate for the damage.
7.5. Items received by the User (towel, rental equipment, locker key) must be returned to the reception upon departure. The User bears financial liability for unreturned or damaged items.
8. Consequences of Violating the House Rules
8.1. In the event of a breach of the House Rules, the Service Provider's staff member will issue a warning. In the case of repeated or serious breaches:
- the User may be excluded from court use for the remainder of the time slot
- the User may be temporarily removed from the club premises
- in serious or repeated cases, the Service Provider may permanently ban the User from the club premises and terminate club membership with immediate effect (pursuant to section 7.4 of the GTC)
8.2. In the event of exclusion or ban due to a breach of the House Rules, the User may not raise any claim against the Service Provider — in particular no claim for a refund.
8.3. If a criminal offence is suspected, the Service Provider is entitled to initiate official action (notify the police).
9. Tournaments and Events
9.1. Detailed rules for tournaments and events organised by the Service Provider are contained in section 12 of the GTC and the relevant event announcement.
9.2. During tournaments, the provisions of the House Rules remain in full force for players, companions, and spectators alike.
10. Final Provisions
10.1. The House Rules are accessible on the Website (www.szigliget-tennis.hu) and at the club reception.
10.2. The Service Provider reserves the right to amend the House Rules unilaterally. Amendments take effect upon publication on the Website.
10.3. Matters not regulated by the House Rules are governed by the GTC and Hungarian law.
We wish you a pleasant time and great tennis!
